The licorice plant is a vegetable (related to beans and peas), native to southern Europe and parts of Asia. The licorice extract included in our formulas is 100% natural, deriving from eco friendly and gentle extraction methods that preserve its actives. The main component of Licorice is Glycyrrhizin, a sweetener 50 times more powerful than sucrose. Glycyrrhetinic acid inhibits tyrosinase activity of melanocytes, the enzyme in the skin pigment cells that stimulates production of melanin.
